Tags in the core
- There are plenty of tags included with the CMSMS core. Some of them are demonstrated here, for any questions as to the parameters they can take or anything else please see the Tags Help.
{anchor}
{anchor anchor='here' text='Scroll Down' class='myclass' title='mytitle' tabindex='1' accesskey='s'}
- Creates a link to an anchor on the same page. Used for example for the ^Top link at the bottom of this page.
{cms_breadcrumbs}
{cms_breadcrumbs root='Home'}
- Breadcrumbs are a navigational technique displaying all visited pages leading from the home page to the currently viewed page. Our breadcrumbs are located at the bottom left of the page.
{cms_module}
{cms_module module='somemodulename' param1='something' param2=true}
- This tag is used to insert modules into your templates and pages. However, in the default templates, wrapper tags are used for inserting modules. This means that a tag is made to insert a cms_module tag.
{cms_selflink}
{cms_selflink page="1"}
or{cms_selflink page="alias"}
- Creates a link to another CMSMS content page inside your template or content. Can also be used for external links with the ext parameter.
- Examples:
{cms_version}
{cms_version}
- This tag displays current version number of CMS Made Simple. This is useful if you wish to display which version number of CMS Made Simple you are using to create and manage your website.
{cms_versionname}
{cms_versionname}
- This tag is very similar to the previous tag, but displays the current version name of CMS Made Simple, rather than just the version number. The two tags are often used together.
{current_date}
{current_date format="%A %d-%b-%y %T %Z"}
- Prints the current date and time at the point where the webpage was opened or refreshed.
- Example:
- Friday 19-Apr-24 13:22:48 BST
{embed}
{embed url="http://www.cmsmadesimple.org"}
- Enable inclusion (embeding) of any other application into the CMS. The most usual use could be a forum.
{global_content}
{global_content name='footer'}
- Inserts a Global Content Block into your template or page.
- The code for the footer of this page is in a Global Content Block which can be editted via the admin console.
- Global Content Blocks are useful for shwoing the same information on every page, without overloading your template with code. An example of a global content block is the Copyright and contact details you see at the bottom of every page on our website.
{menu_text}
{menu_text}
- This tag quite simply prints the menu text of the page. This is useful as it can simply be input into the template and the tag will be applied differently to each page depending on its title.

- Example:
